Yahoo! has unveiled a new search engine in an effort to win back the online search crown all but stolen by business partner Google. The company said the new search option features a cleaner interface and offers faster ways to find results. It also includes technology Yahoo! acquired last December through its $235 million purchase of Inktomi's consumer search engine business.

Yahoo! Directory is now waning fast. The few and far between users who still search through its ancient links find it quickly to be annoying and out of date.
Yahoo! has already suggested that they will get rid of Google and replace it with Inktomi.
Yahoo! is of almost no consequence in the big picture of Web search.

In terms of search capability Yahoo! brings nothing whatsoever to the table to compete with Google. Yes, Yahoo!'s new minimalist design improves the speed of searches and mirrors Google. But at the bottom of each and every page of Yahoo! web and image search results you would take care to note the following line "Search Technology provided by Google." Yahoo! has already lost the battle, they have given up and embraced better technology. Sure Yahoo!'s new approach might bring some users back. But ultimately it is Google that will remain the victor!
