French lawmakers are contemplating legislation that would force online music providers, primarily Apple and its iTunes service, to open their services to other formats and devices by allowing the circumvention of digital rights management technology. French officials will vote on the measure this week, and while it may have significant implications for Apple if passed, it may also spell Apple's departure from the French market, some industry watchers speculate.

Just like the cheap French. They don't pay for their wars and they don't want to pay for their music. Tell them someone has to pay for their freeloading. I hope itunes can by-pass these cheap sobs.
