Unless Apple is planning on unveiling an iCar, an iHome or an iBrain at Tuesday's Macworld Expo in San Francisco, the media focus will remain squarely on Steve Jobs; his absence, his health, his successors. That's as it should be, even with the "Dear Apple Community" letter from Jobs that the company released Monday, and an accompanying statement of support from Apple's board of directors. Still, I feel sorry for anyone who's wearing a press badge in the Moscone Center audience.

I am so not getting this. Since when is Steve Jobs personal information regarding his health your concern? This man is not your father, your brother, or any member of your family. Even if he were, with HIPAA regulations it's problematic how much and what kind of information you'd have a right to be privy to. Unless you own a whopping big slice of Apple stock, I can't see how this information affects your day-to-day. And I temporize again to say, EVEN if you were a large stockholder your right to personal information is problematic. I have seen no indication in this article where you identify yourself as on the Board of Directors of Apple - so for the third time - what business is this of yours? Or any of the other apple nerds who seem to believe they have purchased some sort of all inclusive access to Steve Jobs by virtue of having purchased Apple products.
Let this man and his family have some privacy and some peace as they face what must be a heart wrenching challenge.
