The super-popular MySpace social networking site has been buffeted by a storm of negative press over the actions of several state attorneys general and their recent requests for sex offender information. The whole mess has unfolded like a bad soap opera -- and it must be particularly baffling for MySpace, because it has invested a significant amount of resources and technological effort to ensure that sex offenders can't use MySpace to lure or harass anyone.

I believe Myspace and the AG’s have done a good thing turning over the names of sex offender’s. I’m not sure if this will impact seriously deviant sex perverts like all the ones we hear about in the news who also kill or who were in all the publicized church scandals. I’m not sure what more we can do about sex offenders except place them all on an island in the Pacific Ocean. I believe it is now time to put murderers and thieves on registries. Their recidivism rates are horrible, especially thieves (Most murderers are put away for life, hopefully)! If you commit murder and are finally released or have violent aggressiveness which most of them did when they committed their crime I want to know where they are living nearby – I don’t want my children around them! Thieves come in all shapes and sizes generally willing to physically harm and maim people if they could. There was one a few months ago that beat the crap out of a 95 year old woman in New York City…the citizens were quite pissed as they should be. We need to know where they live! Murderer Registries and Thief Registries should be enacted! Now I’m sure some people may not agree but thanks for at least letting me vent how I feel…
