Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) business division today announced a new version of Great Plains, a financial management software package. According to the company, the new version of Great Plains, now in version 8.0, offers improved usability and functionality for distribution, manufacturing and project accounting.

Microsoft has updated the Great Plains 8.0 interface with a new look and feel designed to give customers an environment similar to Outlook 2003. The software also offers a more comprehensive view of inventory designed to give customers tighter control over distribution and manufacturing processes.
